Hello, American Rental Association (ARA) Region Three members. Portions of our region in Florida and the Carolinas were hit hard by Hurricane Ian at the end of September. The storm should mean brisk equipment rental activity for many, but for others it is going to be a long recovery process. If your operation was damaged by the hurricane, know that help is available through the ARA Foundation.
The ARA Foundation’s Disaster Relief Grants are available to assist rental operations and their employees who have been severely impacted by the hurricane. Two types of grants are available:
Those interested in donating to the ARA Foundation to help assist rental operations impacted by disasters can do so here.
Registration for The ARA Show™ 2023 in Orlando opens Tuesday, Oct. 18. It seems like forever, with everything that has happened in the world since the last “pre-COVID” show was hosted in Orlando in February 2020, doesn’t it? Orlando is a hugely popular destination for the show, and I know everyone is excited about going back there and focusing on the future of our businesses and the industry. Check out everything show-related — and get registered — at ARAshow.org.
ARA recently finalized the voting process for its national board positions, and it was so great to see that Region Three’s own Jeff Crotto, CERP, president of All About Events – Jacksonville, Jacksonville, Fla., will become the association’s president-elect in 2023.
Jeff has been in the event rental industry for 18 years and has a wealth of experience in independently owned rental operations. Plus, he is no stranger to association involvement. Jeff, who many will remember preceded me as your ARA regional director, has been a key member of the ARA of Florida board of directors and has served at the national level of ARA in quite a few capacities, most recently as part of the ARA Event Rental Advocacy Group. He has even received the ARA Outstanding Leadership Award (2017) for his efforts. Jeff will assume his new role at the end of The ARA Show in Orlando this February.
Finally, I would like to congratulate Alix Peña, CERP, national business development & marketing manager, Arena Americas, Orlando. Alix was selected from our region as one of the young rental professionals profiled in the “12 to watch under 40” section in the September issue of Rental Management. Read more about Alix in this issue.
Have a wonderful fall season.
John Scott, ARA Region Three director
