Hello, American Rental Association (ARA) members. My name is Shannon Dinwiddie, ARA member services account specialist. I have been with ARA for more than three years and am pleased to serve as your primary contact with the association.
I was born and raised in Rock Island, Ill. My husband and I have seven children between the two of us. Most are adult age, with two high school-age daughters still at home.
We are a family of campers. We camp almost every weekend through the summer. In the winter, we bowl in a bowling league. I am not very good, but it is a lot of fun. My husband and I also like to take a lot of weekend trips — just hop in the car and go to lunch two hours away or plan our own winery or brewery tours.
I love my job at ARA as I get to have daily conversations with our members, assisting them in finding benefits and resources that will help their businesses grow and be more successful. I really enjoy helping steer our members to information they might not be aware that ARA has available. I know that our members are busy and might not have time to browse the website to find exactly what they are looking for. I am here to be that resource to our members, helping them find that specific information, product or resource they need.
ARA offers so many resources for our members. The one that epitomizes the value of membership is RentalU. I just can’t believe what an advanced educational platform we have to offer our members. Typically, they would have to pay $3,000 if they were to purchase this type of platform on their own. We have it included in their membership, offering an endless amount of education — the majority of which is offered at no charge. RentalU offers such a wide range of resources — from financial and safety to sales and customer service training. There are so many tools there for our members to use.
